My son is a Special Education student. He is allowed to take a test called a "Regents Competency Exam" (RCT). This allows him to graduate with a local diploma by getting only a grade of 55 or above on the RCT. But, my concern is whether he can still be accepted in college without a Regents diploma, only a local one. Do you know if New York state colleges accept local diplomas for admission?

Answer 1 :
He will be able to get into college. He might have to go to a community college first and then transfer to a 4 year school.
Answer 2 :
Some Community Colleges do accept local diplomas but I would advise him to stay away from academic subjects./
