which community college in New York is the best in finance major or engineering

which community college in New York is the best in finance major or engineering?
Hi, a friend of mine in Singapore wants to come to New York and attend a college here. He wants to attend a community college first then transfer to a good university such as NYU, Columbia, Cornel. Which community college should he attend in New York? he is interested in finance and engineering majors. In other words, which community college is affiliated with good universitys so that credits earned in the college are transferable to the university.

Answer 1 :
If he attends a community college first, he should be able to transfer into a public university -- but it is HIGHLY unlikely that he would be able to transfer into a top private university like Cornell, Columbia or NYU. Let me repeat this -- it is HIGHLY UNLIKELY. Tell him not to come to the US in order to go to a community college.

Answer 1 :
http://www.graduateshotline.com/psy.html Here is a list of top programs in US. Psychology is rated for the graduate programs, not undergrad. Binghamton is the best from your list. apa.org for more info on psychology programs. Plan on going on to graduate school. Psychology is not a career without at least a master's degree. (psych professor)
Answer 2 :
school doesnt matter as much as what you do while you are there. talk to your guidance counselor and find out which field in pschology most interests you. Once you know that, then email the schools and ask about that specific program (clinical, conditioning and learning, genetics, child development, behavioral, industrial, performance, experimental, etc). now once you know the school, then work to make the most of it. Get a mentor in the school (grad student), volunteer to work experiments, learn statistics. Meet with your mentors and discuss your areas of interests, strengths, and weaknesses. ONce you understand these you can better see what you are best fit for in the future. Join the psychological clubs and get leadership skills too. Join toastmasters when you get to campus so you can be a better public speaker. List out the pro's and con's of each school. Talk with a professor and tell them your goals after you have worked through them with a mentor. Volunteer for activities outside your study area when you have time, these will help make you more well rounded. Your ultimate goal should be that one professor is studying what you are interested in, and you would like to assist grad students studying under that major professor. If you work towards this goal, you will be well suited to go to grad school where you will start the process over but this time have time and a little experience on your side. If all of this is too much work, then pick any school, you probably wont end up majoring in psychology when you graduate anyway.

How much does it cost the average student to live and go to school at the New York City College

How much does it cost the average student to live and go to school at the New York City College?
I have high hopes to attend the New York City College in New York in the fall of 2011. I'll be a freshman and have room and board, including my courses. I'm curious to know how much it costs to live at the college as well as attend it for the average student? I live in California so I'll be a non-resident. I live in Northern California so I'm used to the rainy, ickey weather. It's the big city life that's going to be new to me.

Answer 1 :
Sell your car you won't need it. Eating out is expensive there and mostly not very good. The sun won't shine much during the school year. Jobs will be difficult to get. Check and see what dorm facilities are provided. The costs will be extreme. See what your parents say. See how much you like five-hour plane flights before layovers. If you're parents are rich, it won't matter. It will be cold and rainy often. You may want to see what scholarships are available including the Armed Services and the ROTC.
Answer 2 :
Right now the cost/unit is $415 for non-resident. If the economy continues on its present course, expect $500/unit or more. Staying in The Towers (least expensive) will run about $1000/month, so more when you get there. Food is hard to figure as it depends what you eat, how much, and where. It is going to cost you a fair amount more going to college in NYC than California. Over the course of a lifetime it really doesn't make any difference as far as the price goes!
Answer 3 :
As a non-resident, it will cost you about $7,500 per semester if you take all 18 possible credits. The cheapest room in The Towers is going to be about $2,500 per semester. That would mean that it would cost you about $20,000 per year, plus food. Considering you would be going to school right in New York City, and that NYU would cost you about $60,000 per year, this is a great price. Good luck!
