http://www.graduateshotline.com/psy.html Here is a list of top programs in US. Psychology is rated for the graduate programs, not undergrad. Binghamton is the best from your list. apa.org for more info on psychology programs. Plan on going on to graduate school. Psychology is not a career without at least a master's degree. (psych professor)
Answer 2 :
school doesnt matter as much as what you do while you are there. talk to your guidance counselor and find out which field in pschology most interests you. Once you know that, then email the schools and ask about that specific program (clinical, conditioning and learning, genetics, child development, behavioral, industrial, performance, experimental, etc). now once you know the school, then work to make the most of it. Get a mentor in the school (grad student), volunteer to work experiments, learn statistics. Meet with your mentors and discuss your areas of interests, strengths, and weaknesses. ONce you understand these you can better see what you are best fit for in the future. Join the psychological clubs and get leadership skills too. Join toastmasters when you get to campus so you can be a better public speaker. List out the pro's and con's of each school. Talk with a professor and tell them your goals after you have worked through them with a mentor. Volunteer for activities outside your study area when you have time, these will help make you more well rounded. Your ultimate goal should be that one professor is studying what you are interested in, and you would like to assist grad students studying under that major professor. If you work towards this goal, you will be well suited to go to grad school where you will start the process over but this time have time and a little experience on your side. If all of this is too much work, then pick any school, you probably wont end up majoring in psychology when you graduate anyway.
