What's the difference between going to college in New York City and London

What's the difference between going to college in New York City and London?
I want to go to college in one of those two places, and lived in the US my whole life. So what's the difference? (Besides the driving on the other side of the road)

Well, the first difference might be transportation costs. And, of course, there are cultural differences. But the big factor is which country can offer you the best education in the area you plan to study. Best of Luck to You!

Massive difference between UK and US college systems that are more important than which is the better city to hang out in for a while. The biggest difference between UK and US college education is you specialise very early in the UK. There is no such thing as pre-med or pre-law in the UK, you go straight into medicine and you're a doctor by the time you are 24. Study is a lot more demanding, a UK undergraduate degree is only three years, but it crams in the same amount of stuff a four year US degree does. UK universities rarely have an extensive pastoral support service, it is sink or swim. Students don't pay the full amount for their fees, just a portion of them, universities are largely funded by the government. This wouldn't apply to you, as a foreign student you would have to pay full fees.

if i lived in the US for all of my life and had the chance to study in London, i'd do it, if only to know that i could take the train to Paris (and from there to the rest of Continental Europe) in only 3 hours! here's an idea: go to college in London, and spend a summer term in NYC.

How much does it cost to study to study in a community college in New York as a foreigener citizen?
I am british, moving to new york, just want to know how much is going to cost me to study in New York. I am 23, can i still go to a community college, right? In England, before we go to uni we go to college, if you havent done extremely well in school. Is this also the way it works in the states, right? Do i have to get a student visa to study in New York?

No, the word "college" does not mean the same thing in the U.S. that it means in Britain. In the U.S. a college is a part of a university, or a smaller institution me that teaches very much the same thing as a university. However, a community college, or jr. college, or 2 year college is a lesser institution. It is considered to teach the first 2 years of what you would otherwise study in a university, but usually it is not considered to be as good. Many people attend community colleges and then transfer to a regular 4 year college or university, but some never do. People who graduate from community college get a lesser degree called an Associates Degree or AA degree. Also, many Americans use the term "college" just to mean the experience of attending university - as in "I'm going to college next year" or "I went to college in 1982". There it is synonymous with the word you use as university.
