Come on over to the Dark Side. You'll love it. No...seriously, you will. A little hustle bustle...may take a little getting used to, but hey...you won't know if you don't take the leap.

Columbia is one of the best colleges in the nation. It's an Ivy League school (as is Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Cornell, UPenn, and Dartmouth). You have to be the best of the best in the country to get in. This means getting a near perfect SAT score, a very high GPA, taking AP/honors courses, and having tons of extracurricular activities. But there are other good colleges in NYC that are less competitive, such as NYU and Fordham. GOOD LUCK!
Answer 2 :
columbia university is an ivy league school in new york city. it is not columbia college (there is a columbia college in chicago) both Columbia University and NYU are good. Answer 1 :
so you would like a school that is similiar to sarah lawrence or fits that description, its hard to make that judgment but ill do my best. i dont know your reason for wanting to find a school thats the same as one you already found that you like, my guess is maybe money? as far as state schools go thats probably your best option i went to suny albany and i liked it but those words would not describe it so you dont want there and i kinda live near suny new paltz and know a lot of people who have gone there and that seems to describe it fairly well. i can think of a lot of friends who go to lots of different schools public and private in new york and i think new paltz fits your description best. a website with information about colleges that is not in barrons type books it has a list of schools in new york with things students thought people would want to know before they came including stuff your asking about its www.newtoschool.com
