How hard is it to find a job in New York City without college education

How hard is it to find a job in New York City without college education?
I'm thinking about moving to New York City from NC and only have one year of college. How hard would it be for me to find a decent job? Thank You. Decent=$10-12/hour

Answer 1 :
Really depends what your defintion of decent is. You can always get a job without a college education, but you are certainly limiting your options. 10-12$ an hour is peanuts in NYC. So yes, that would not be an issue.
Answer 2 :
You can definitely find jobs for $10 - $12 an hour here. But keep in mind that that is still not a great amount of money to live on, and you will definitely have to find shared living arrangements. For example - I was making that much money on my second job to help with my bills! If you have experience working in any particular field (waiter/retail/guest services/hotels) it might help you make a little more money.
Answer 3 :
$10 - $12 and hour is not enough to live in NYC unless you find several roommates, live in slum-like conditions or commute from NJ. Think about what you could afford on a salary like that in NC (rent, food, utilities, entertainment, haircuts, etc.). If 10 - 12 dollars an hour is enough to live the way you want to in NC, then multiply that by 2.5. That's how much money you would have to earn in NYC to have a comparable life style.
Answer 4 :
ok 10-12 an hour is not much to live on in nyc on your own. you must plan on getting a roommate. then dont even think about living in manhattan on that type of salary, youll be working just to pay the rent
Answer 5 :
not hard to find, but you can't live in NYC on $10 per hour. Rent on even the worst apartments in the city are well over $1000 per month. Even if you live outside the city (Brooklyn, Bronx, etc.) $10 an hour isn't going to do it. You'll spend a ton of money on getting in and out of manhattan every day..../
Answer 6 :
It is very hard to make it in the city without a college education - the cost of living here often calls for a $75,000 and above annual income - if you want to live comfortably. If you learn a trade that is in demand, you can easily make it. If you're only making $10-12 an hour, you'll have to settle for living in a low-income community where you might not know if it's good or bad. Getting a roommate is a better idea. Finish college where you are first, then use whatever you have a degree in to get a job in NY, the market is very competitive here and the economy is horrible right now, so plan carefully. Good luck!
