I want to pursue a career in film directing? what is a good new york college to go to?
I want to be a film director when I get older. What courses are good to take in high school? My role model is Tim burton, i think he is one of my favirote directors of all time. I want to stay in new york college area.

I'd say you're fortunate to be already in the New York City area to start your career. Tim Burton is a very great creative force, and I believe if society eliminated film as a medium, he'd find a way to make his work on playing cards or the like. High school only offers certain outlets for creativity, and I'd focus on generating an art portfolio along with a strong backround with computers and raw digital media. Columbia is a great school with a lot of guest celebrity creative types and exposure for yourself. As far as nuts and bolts, the SUNY schools are good as well. I am a visual artist and am not familiar with the film schools per se, but be careful to avoid a cattle farm of false promises in a film school. Good luck. Well the two best universities are definitely Columbia and NYU. Both are pretty difficult to get into, but if you have the grades then go for it. Other schools are The New School (Eugene Lang College), Pace University, and Fordham.

ASSUMING that you get into both of these schools, and both give equivalent financial aid: NYU and UChicago don't share much in common. I imagine you'll find that you will "fit" better at one school than at the other; go to the one you feel happier and more comfortable at. Both Chicago and NYC are fun cities to go to college in. Chicago is probably a little cheaper.
