Should I move to new York for college

Should I move to new York for college?
Hello, I'm currently a senior in high school in the illinois region, and I was wondering if it wise for me to consider moving to New York to further my education. I have two siblings that attend college in state. I've never been one to leave home too have if I don't have to, and I absolutely do NOT like to fly in airplanes. However, vie always seen images of New York that just make it seem so lively and wonderful. I could really use some input here. Thanks everyone!

While it is entirely up to I do suggest thinking everything over before trying to go to a New York College. Depending on the area in New York quite a lot of places are not that great especially if you are used to clean air and are from the woodsy area since quite a lot of places in New York just smell bad and look quite polluted. I have never attended a college in New York nor left my state for college so I'm not sure how well their colleges are. You also must think about money and where you will be staying whether it be a dorm or an apartment and you must think of, if needed a job. I mentioned job due to if you need to make some money while attending college you need to make sure there are places you can possibly/legally work. I suggest going up to New York and checking out the campuses and area around it to see if it would be fitting for you. A BIG problem with going out of state if you are relying on scholarships and are not 'rich' is that you could be stranded there if things backfire. Due to an ex-friend's experience she went out of state many states away and is stuck there with no way to get back home since her family is poor and isn't having a wonderful time since she lives in an apartment with random others and can't find a job. Staying in state does have it's benefits when starting out for college though such as a place to stay if there's a college near where you live and it is cheaper to go to a college in your state than another state. Good luck with your decision.

Which New York college should I go to? I'm looking for a good New York college to go to. Need ideas.?
I'm looking for a great SUNY 4 year college to go to, that has a great environment, community, city, and education. I live in New York and I'd hope to go to a college that has sports, is a university/state college, has a good number to a large number of people there, and is located in a great environment, city/town, a fun, active, and enjoyable place to be. Any ideas?

I had a friend who went to SUNY Binghampton (sp?) and really liked it. But I live in MA so I don't know much about the state schools in NY. Good luck!
Answer 2 :
Of the SUNYs, people seem to really enjoy being at SUNY Binghamton and SUNY New Paltz, due to their locations. I think they fit your other requirements as well, so you may want to give them a look.
Answer 3 :
SUNY College at Oneonta is a great school. I went there for my Bachelors and my Masters and lived in the area for 6 years. If you are used to a big city atmosphere, the Oneonta area will seem somewhat rural. (I came from a very rural area, so Oneonta was positively metropolitan to me!) However, if you are looking for a good college town, Oneonta is it. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, shops, etc. There are lots of independent shops and cafes downtown and there are the standbys over on the "Southside," which is the more commercial part of town. There you can find a Walmart, Hannaford (grocery store), Lowes, Home Depot, JC Penney, Office Max, etc. There is a mall (we called it the "small") which they are expanding. If you need larger stores, Binghamton and Albany are each within an hour and a half drive. The campus life is pretty good too. Lots of opportunities to socialize and get involved- comedy acts, movies, parties, plays, concerts, sports events, interesting lectures, etc. There is an active outdoors club- so if you ever wanted to try kayaking, hiking, skiing, horseback riding, or rock climbing- here's your chance. There is a small fee for each activity- most under $10-$20, which is much less than what you would pay for lessons or equipment rental elsewhere. Sometimes you are just charged a fee to reserve your space so you get your money back when you show up. The campus is fairly compact- It is possible to walk from one end to the other in 5-10 minutes. There is public transportation that connects the campus and downtown Oneonta. There is another smaller private college in town- Hartwick, which adds even more of a college feel to the town. SUNY Oneonta also offers many different majors. The faculty is great and you can really get to know your professors if you want to. The staff in the academic advisement office are really nice and helpful if you haven't picked a major yet or need help with figuring out class schedules. Overall, I highly recommend the school. For more information, go to: www.oneonta.edu . Good luck with your college search!

Answer 1 :
Your answer is yes and it would have taken you all of two mouse clicks to find this page http://cunyqc.askadmissions.net/emtinterestpage.aspx?ip=international You will pay the CUNY out of state tuition fee. You can request financial aid from the university but be aware that state universities almost never give financial aid to international students. You will not be eligible for any government loans or grants.

college is not everything for acting... you cant really teach acting cuz different actors have different style of acting... i mean having a college on ur resume is a good thing... thers also nyu, tish school of arts and New york film academy... aslong as you get a mfa in acting it doesnt really matter what school you go to.. ans also aslong as ur passionate about acting, heck you mite not even need a college, look at those kid actors ages like 4 9 12 there not in college but there amazing at actings... its all about compassion for the arts...
