New York has something called TAP. I know it exists because my daughter wants to attend a college in NY but we live in NJ so she isn't eligible. Go for it. There are lots of resources out there for you. I feel your pain--working as a cashier years ago drove me to go back to school.

What would be the better choice of college in New York PACE University or SUNY Albany

What would be the better choice of college in New York PACE University or SUNY Albany?
I got accepted to both but one is private and the other is state run. PACE costs more than Albany....so which would be the better choice? Would it be better to go to PACE even if i might have more loans to pay off after college?

Albany is higher ranked, and it has a stronger reputation than does Pace. If you like both equally, go to Albany. As you mentioned, it's also tons cheaper. And congratulations. Albany isn't at all easy to get into.
Answer 2 :
That is up to you.

Should I move to new York for college

Should I move to new York for college?
Hello, I'm currently a senior in high school in the illinois region, and I was wondering if it wise for me to consider moving to New York to further my education. I have two siblings that attend college in state. I've never been one to leave home too have if I don't have to, and I absolutely do NOT like to fly in airplanes. However, vie always seen images of New York that just make it seem so lively and wonderful. I could really use some input here. Thanks everyone!

While it is entirely up to I do suggest thinking everything over before trying to go to a New York College. Depending on the area in New York quite a lot of places are not that great especially if you are used to clean air and are from the woodsy area since quite a lot of places in New York just smell bad and look quite polluted. I have never attended a college in New York nor left my state for college so I'm not sure how well their colleges are. You also must think about money and where you will be staying whether it be a dorm or an apartment and you must think of, if needed a job. I mentioned job due to if you need to make some money while attending college you need to make sure there are places you can possibly/legally work. I suggest going up to New York and checking out the campuses and area around it to see if it would be fitting for you. A BIG problem with going out of state if you are relying on scholarships and are not 'rich' is that you could be stranded there if things backfire. Due to an ex-friend's experience she went out of state many states away and is stuck there with no way to get back home since her family is poor and isn't having a wonderful time since she lives in an apartment with random others and can't find a job. Staying in state does have it's benefits when starting out for college though such as a place to stay if there's a college near where you live and it is cheaper to go to a college in your state than another state. Good luck with your decision.
