Answer 1 :
Online university programs are quite a handful, however the syllabus and the responsible faculty behavior is scarce in this world. At Victorville International University and American Centered University the strength lies in its syllabus and offers excellent faculty base to teach the subjects. The success of an educational institute lies in great faculty and subject area to be covered. The very syllabus offerings and its composition makes sure that all the various theories are learn't at first and penetration of practical aspects are mapped periodically to support ones learning ability and knowledge of various tools used.
Answer 2 :
You can study online while living anywhere as long as you're not expected to go often to meet profesors or advisors.

Answer 1 :
Find a place to live. (your best bet will be to look around places OUT of Manhattan) Find a job. (although jobs are pretty hard to find at the moment) Learn the subway system. Make some friends. New York is really not like anything you've seen on Gossip Girl or any of those shows. It's very expensive to have a good time. Just LIVING and EATING here is very expensive. Don't expect to have this amazingly fun life full of clubbing, socializing, and meeting celebrities. Expect to work hard and run around a lot, but once you've made it, the fun begins! Good luck!
Answer 2 :
rent a a room or become a families Nanny make some friends learn how to cook so you can buy your groceries and cook yourself , eating out is crazy expensive... especially since there are lots of places to eat and the majority of them charge an arm and a leg. going to college in new york will cost a ton of money as well so yeah you'll be having to find maybe a couple of jobs not just one job to get by with finances.. its not glamorous like in the movies... but it can be done..

How would I get into a college in New York area or California

How would I get into a college in New York area or California?
I live in Australia. Would it even be possible to go to College/University in America, preferably New York or California? I've heard Californian colleges don't really let overseas people in. Do you think I'd have a chance? Also how would I go about applying? Any other helpful information about this would also be handy, thanks!

California public State schools accept very few out of state and international students. You have slim chance of getting in. Sorry, but why do internationals students ONLY think of NY and California??? the US is huge. NYC is over crowed, LA has horrid traffic and the smog is awful. and these are two cities have a very high cost of living. I highly recommend checking into other areas of the US. You can go on any US school's web site to see requirements, how to apply, an online application, tuition and room and board costs. You will need to take the SAT- www.collegeboard.com
Answer 2 :
It would be possible. You'd have to check the requirements for international students for the school(s) you are interested in. However, New York and California are not the only states in the U.S.! There are plenty of great school throughout the states that you may be interested in!
Answer 3 :
To go to college or university in the USA, all you have to do is apply as an international student. You be accepted you must meet the same academic standards as an American applicant and to have the means to pay for it. You have to pass the SAT (GRE for grad school) and if your native language is not English, the TOEFL exam. Most schools in other countries can arrange for you to take the SAT. Look up your intended school at www.cappex.com. They put a map of unweighted GPA versus SAT scores on one of the pages. Look your scores up and you can estimate your chances of getting admitted. As for getting your student visa, the school’s international student office takes care of most of the paperwork. And they will guide you through your part if you have been accepted for admission to that school. Because Universities in Europe and other countries have heavy government subsidies, for a European student to consider a US school, they are in for what we call â€Å“sticker shock” The cost of attending a US University for an International student in the US is between US$35,000 to US$65,000 per year. As well, you have to prove you have this sort of funding available to you from family, a sponsor or student loans that you got from your home country. You cannot make enough money working in the US while at school there to pay your way either. Your student visa limits you to 20 hours a week of work (40 in the summer). This work must be either an on campus job or an outside job that the school approves as being relevant experience for your degree. For finance, private US schools may give you a partial scholarship but public schools will give you no aid. My Canadian daughter got $9500 a year from her US undergrad school towards the $33,000 a year cost. However, in some cases, like for Canadians going to a US school, you may be able to get aid from your native country. In my daughter’s case, the BC and Canadian governments loaned her a total of $10,000 per year. Beyond the scholarship and loans, her grandmother contributed $4800 Canadian a year and I paid the rest, about US$12,000 a year. Graduate students can get a GA (Graduate Assistantship) after their first semester which will pay their tuition and give them a small living allowance if they have an exceptionally good GPA. My Canadian daughter earned one with her 4.0 GPA and because a US government research institute felt her research is important to the USA. Doctoral students, if they get a decent fellowship during grad school in the USA and if their research is considered important enough can get fully funded PhDs.
